Michael Ruhland, otherwise known as Mr. Ruhland, Mr. R, Coach R or R has worked in the Riverview School District since 2004. (Enough of the 3rd person thingy)
After growing up in North Dakota I joined the North Dakota Army National Guard where I spent 9 years, followed by a final year in the Washington Army National Guard. After the harvest of 1990 my lovely bride and I moved to Washington state on a whim and haven't found any good reasons to leave. We are raising a daughter and a son who we of course believe to be the greatest.
I have entered the education arena somewhere around the mid-point of my working life. Previously I owned a fairly large Landscape Company in Bellevue, and after destroying both knees and my one back I got out of that and decided this computer thing was going to catch on. After working in the restuarant Point of Sale (POS) industry I decided to buy a POS company. After a number of years of long hours, long travel and hard work I had an opportunity to have a mid-life crisis and pursue a life long dream. Teaching Math. I consider myself truly fortunate to be doing something I have always wanted and do love.
I have coached in some capacity since 1985 when I got my first job coaching 4 basketball teams at the same time in the Mandan Public School system in Mandan ND. When they hired me, they forgot to mention that it was more than 1 team. I have coached basketball, football, fastpitch, and baseball. I did coach soccer for two years, but thankfully for the soccer world I gave that up.
I try to be very approachable and am available to you for questions.
Thank You.
R
